Historique :	Jean Fabry (ou Fabri), le plus célèbre de cette lignée de peintres aurillacois du 17e siècle dont les oeuvres sont réparties dans les châteaux et églises de la région, a été reçu maître peintre en la ville d'Aurillac en 1703. Cette toile datée de 1731 est la plus récente parmi celles que l'on connaît de lui.

Précision_sur la representation :	Le saint est représenté avec une longue barbe, genou droit à terre, le coude gauche appuyé sur un autel de pierre. Il tient de la main gauche un crucifix dressé et dans la droite un crâne et un chapelet. Le fond de la composition est occupé par un paysage d'arbres et de rocher qui laissent apparaître de part et d'autre un ciel nuageux.
