Historique :	Ramenée d'Italie sous le 1er Empire, cette peinture a été donnée à l'église par Jean Louis de Douhet, chevalier d'Auzers (1769-1831). Le donateur avait été nommé par Napoléon en 1808 directeur général de la police des départements transalpins. En 1814, le roi de Sardaigne lui avait conservé ce titre et l'avait fait entrer dans son premier gouvernement. Par la suite, il devint l'oncle de Cavour, par alliance. Anciennement identifiée comme étant une copie d'après Sodoma. Cette oeuvre a été réalisée d'après la Petite Sainte Famille de Giulio Pippi, dit Giulio Romano (anciennement attribuée à Raphaël et conservée à Paris, Musée du Louvre). Cette copie n'est ni signée ni datée. Si on en juge par le carton imprimé et daté du 23 mai 1864, qui a été fixé au dos, elle a été réencadrée postérieurement à cette date.
