Historique :	Traditionnellement, cette toile, dont on ignore la provenance, est considérée comme relevant de l'école de Jules Romain. D'après Stéphane Loire (2011) il s'agit en fait d'un tableau d'un peintre français du 17e siècle ; la Vierge est peut-être une reprise d'un sujet gravé (d'après Reni ?, Vignon ?) ; les autres figures, plus maladroites, ne semblent pas dériver d'une composition antérieure. La cuisine de la Vierge est une copie d'après Claude Vignon connue par la gravure de Gilles Rousselet (source : R. Benoît-Cattin).
